Mom & Pop Authentic Food Tour of Little Italy and Chinatown
Best in category Mom and Pop Food Tour in Little Italy and Chinatown
As a native New Yorker, I've curated 5 of the very best food stops in each category in Chinatown and Little Italy. Not surprisingly, they are ALL mom & pop shops that put their hearts and love into every bite. We will of course talk about the food, but you will also learn about and experience what makes these two neighborhoods so special.
We will make five stops. Think freshly baked traditional Hong Kong Sponge Cakes (paired with a sampling of Thai tea), the fattest most admired dumplings in the city, potato gnocchi in marinara sauce, truly excellent pizza made by a craftsman who takes 4.5 hours to make his sauce (and is a good friend of mine!), and we will end with the best cannoli at the most acclaimed Italian (est. 892) bakery in the city.
Food culture has always been in my family. The farmers pictured are my grandparents from Naples, and the black and white photo from 1920 is my Sicilian grandfather at his shop in Brooklyn.
Expect food and fun!
